The solid waste
• Discarded materials including solid, semi-solid, gaseous
containing materials.
• Sources: Municipality, cities, industries, hospitals, agricultural
area etc.
• Kathmandu valley generates 1200 metric tones of solid wastes
(907.18 kg – 1 ton; 1000 kg – 1 metric ton).
• 77 % organic wastes, 18 % plastics, 3% papers and remaining
other wastes.
• About 278 gm/capita/day of solid wastes generated in Nepal
every day.
